With this work, I explored issues of connectivity amidst a sea of the unknown. This painting was inspired by the many people who pulled together to hope and pray for my then-unborn son, Mack, who we thought would require surgery to repair his lung when he arrived. The background layers in this painting contain actual copies from the doctor's medical journals that he asked us to read after he diagnosed Mack's condition. Of course I read them, but I didn't feel right about throwing them away and I also didn't want them sitting around within reach reminding me of the long and difficult journey ahead, so I tore them up and added them to many of my paintings. In a sense I was processing them in the only way I know how...through my art.
Painting is on museum-quality, gallery-wrapped canvas, meaning there are no exposed staples. It is painted on all sides and arrives fully wired and ready to hang. Sales price does not include shipping.
